In my work with women, I hear it over and over. I said yes when I meant no. Sometimes it’s in relationships. Sometimes it’s at work. Sometimes it’s in bed, too scared to say no, too worried about the reaction, too conditioned to keep the peace at the cost of themselves. The number of women who tell me this no longer shocks me. What shocks me is that it doesn’t shock anyone. When we consider that the majority of women have experienced sexual harassment, assault, or simply the quiet erosion of never feeling safe enough to say no we have to ask ourselves something. What are we doing with that? Not what are men doing. What are WE doing? Together. In our own bodies, our own lives, our own communities. The anger that lives in that silenced no is real and it is valid. And it is also a doorway… not a destination. This is the work. If this resonates share it with a woman who needs to hear it. If you’re feeling brave, share you “NO” here. #findyourno #angerisadoorway #therapist #somaticeducator #no
