The illusions and the gifts of challenging poses. On my way back from a Mysore intensive with @davidgarriguesyoga I was reminded again and again to make things easy. To dedicate time and energy to the foundations, to the setup, to finding the single position, the Sama, in each posture. We don’t need to always do the most challenging version of the pose despite the fact that our body can do it. There is immense value in making things easy. Working the preparatory steps, with integrity, curiosity and awareness. The challenge of a pose can illude our ego, trick our mind into thinking that we are ‘better than’ just because we can put our body into a shape. And while there’s immense value and discoveries to be made in challenging asanas, there’s gifts for the soul, there’s dissolving of fears, there’s fire and tapas and dedication and sweat that we put into it, in the end of it, detaching from the results is what yoga is about. Doing it just because. Just because you get closer to yourself. Practice is not a performance. Don’t let it become one. #ashtangayoga #laguvajrasana #yogapractice #yogachallenges #asanapractice #yogalisboa #yogaportugal
