Sanskrit is the language of yoga, and studying it can help practitioners fully immerse themselves in the practice and gain a greater appreciation for its rich history and tradition. Well, let us run you through just some of the benefits! 1. All the physical poses (āsanas) in yoga have Sanskrit names. If you become familiar with them, then no matter where in the world you are, you can follow an āsana practice even if you do not speak the local language. 2. It's important to pay attention to the words that get repeated in different poses, as they can help you identify the proper form for each pose. By understanding the meaning behind these words, you'll be able to adjust your positioning and alignment to achieve the best possible results. Keep this in mind as you practice your āsanas and work to improve your technique. 3. Beyond āsana we also often practice mantras in yoga. The power of the mantra is believed to emanate from the phonemes (sounds of the letters), so if we know how to pronounce Sanskrit words properly, then the mantras take on a much greater vibratory power…. … and much more! #yogaroomlisbon #yogaroom #yoga #sanskrit #teacher #yogateacher #sanskritteacher #asana #mantra #workshop #sanskritworkshop #introtosanskrit
