Truth in thought, word, and deed – in our relationships with others and also within ourselves. Practicing Satya implies openness to the truth of the moment, because what was true in the past may no longer be true now. Satya invites us to be authentic – an authenticity that springs from the heart, from a place where there is nothing to defend or control. Sometimes we lie thinking we make the moment easier, but we forget the weight of sustaining a lie or having to correct it later. No label or role we assume replaces authenticity. Truth brings serenity, but only when it goes hand in hand with Ahimsa.
