Self Enquiry Meditation
Picture
The Self inquiry (or the 'I am' meditation technique) focuses on turning attention inwards to bring to light your innate/true nature. This inward-facing attention allows the mind to be calm and the tension to dissipate. In the 20th Century, the much-celebrated sage Ramana Maharshi introduced the concept of Atma vichara or self inquiry. A provocative question like finding Who am I? can help practitioners dig deeper into the spirit and psyche. Self-inquiry or I am meditation and affirmations are designed for those who have the urge to answer life's deeper questions. Self enquiry can be a life-altering experience for practitioners. When someone experiences reality in all its unadulterated truth, this could be the end of all his/her sufferings. Self-inquiry meditation is considered an advanced practice that should be practiced only by the spiritually mature.
