Mantra meditation is the type of Meditation Practice that revolves around a word or phrase being repeated while meditating. These mantras can be spoken out, chanted repeatedly, be whispered, or chanted in the mind. A majority of mantra meditation techniques are designed around mindfulness, chants, or mantra repetition. This practice can be traced back to early Buddhism and Hinduism. The idea of recitation of mantras or chants is also prevalent in Judeo Christian and Shamanic traditions. The modern practice of mantra meditation is gaining popularity in the sphere of meditation as a practice of mindfulness. Mantra meditation can be practiced for a wide variety of outcomes. For mental health and wellbeing, keeping focused and avoiding mental distractions, aiding sleeplessness, or overcoming fears and phobias. In Hindu tradition, mantra meditation serves a much deeper spiritual purpose as it allows the brain and heart to connect and build a deeper relationship with the divine. In the Buddhist tradition, the technique is used as a way to remain mindful of the present situation.
